My name is Anne Pinto and I am a homemaker with three kids.  I have no formal knowledge or even the science of baking let alone consider myself an expert.  Whatever recipes I have are all taken from books and now the internet is my constant resource for recipes and ideas. Of course I tweaked with some of the recipes to make it my own.

My love for baking started when my son was born. His birthdays were celebrated with a birthday cake made by one of my sis-in-laws.  It dawned on me that if she can bake a cake so can I.

I started experimenting and looked up books and magazines for recipes which was easy to follow. One experiment led to another and I soon gathered enough courage to demonstrate my so called `acquired skills’ to bake a birthday cake for my son.  Being an amateur did not stop me from baking a cake replicating a football field, complete with ‘goal posts and men playing on the field’. The cake came out perfect and so did the icing on the cake or so it seemed to be in the eyes of the beholder. Well I thought this is a stepping stone to demonstrate my baking skills in my other kids birthdays. A hobby was born and soon I was shopping for books on baking and trying to improve my skills in the art of cake decoration.

My second birthday cake was more challenging than my first. My daughter’s birthday was coming up and I though why not bake her a doll cake.  Pouring through decorating books I decided to pursue on my challenge.  It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be as I wanted to place the doll on top of another square cake.  Knowing absolutely nothing about tiering a cake and the use of dowels I decided to carry on with my plan.  Strangely enough I manage to manipulate my way around without using dowels, but of course I had a doll which was sinking into the main cake, but it was beautiful enough for my daughter and everyone else.
